Sunday 1:30pm - 2:30pm
It's 1917 and while the boys and men are away fighting in the mud and blood of France, the women and girls they've left behind have taken over not just their jobs in the factories but their places on the football field.
Rebecca Stevens tells the almost-forgotten story of the female footballers of World War One, the factory girls who formed their own teams and ended up attracting crowds as big and sometimes bigger than the men. Until the end of the war, when the men came back and the Football Association banned the women's game.
