Jumpers for Goalposts is an exciting new concept — a festival for football culture taking place over a single weekend, 3rd and 4th August 2019, at Printworks London.
Bringing together football communities, creators and fans, we’re celebrating the people who make the sport what it is and the many diverse and wonderful aspects of football culture past and present. Come discover the wonderful world of football culture with us, whether your interest is in non-league, vintage kits, away days, women's football or memorabilia - there's something for everyone and for all ages.
Hear from pundits, fans and writers as they discuss big topics in football today, as well as those close to the hearts of many. Explore the future of football, realise the true legacy of the Women’s World Cup, learn about the media’s changing relationship with fans, and discover how the match-day experience has changed completely for some. Plus, brilliant authors like David Goldblatt will be talking about their books and signing copies at our Festival Bookshop.
We have some brilliant stories for the big screen. On Saturday, we will show BT Sport Films’ groundbreaking documentary State of Play, as well as the classic hit film Bend It Like Beckham. On Sunday, we will bring you the story of Admiral in Get Shirty, all the action from the FA Community Shield match-up between the Champions of England and the Champions of Europe, and an evening screening of the incredible story of American Samoa’s football team - Next Goal Wins.
We have a number of workshops for both adults and young people at the festival - sign up to make your own football zine with Youth Club Archive, join our session on alternative careers for women in football in collaboration with SLOWE, or for the little ones, learn about the world with Football School or your favourite football players with Ultimate Football Heroes and other brilliantly fun family activities hosted at the Junior FC!
Some of our favourite podcasts will be putting on live shows at the festival, whether it’s a hilarious romp through 90s football with Alive and Kicking and special guest 90s legends, an insightful chat with creatives working in football with the Football Creative, or the world of vintage kits with the Retro Football Shirt Podcast. There’ll be anecdotes, tall tales, a quiz show, and more!
Printworks will be transformed into a world of football culture for a weekend, and we have two special exhibitions to share with you: to celebrate Admiral’s 105th anniversary, we are showcasing originals of some of their most iconic kits, as worn by players and kids in the 70s and 80s.
For our second exhibition, we asked 20 of our favourite artists to create a one-off response to the theme of “My First Football Memory.” We will be displaying these beautiful pieces at the festival and auctioning them off to raise funds for our Charity Partner, Sporting Memories Foundation.
All weekend at the festival, you can browse brilliant football creations at our festival gift shop and marketplace, play your favourite retro video games, enjoy music and freestyle performances, alongside street food for all tastes.
