Share your first football memory
Exhibition of one-off creations by talented football artists and designers to be held at Jumpers for Goalposts Festival, with works auctioned off to raise awareness for charity tackling dementia, depression and loneliness amongst the elderly using sports memories.
What is your first football memory? This is the question we asked 16 of our favourite football creatives, and they agreed to capture their answers through their preferred means of expression - art.
With only a single piece of each artwork being created, we will be displaying these unique celebrations of the power of memory and the joys of first discovering something with you all weekend at Jumpers for Goalposts Festival. The My First Football Memory Exhibition will allow you explore moments in time as experienced by our creatives, and to share your own using #MyFirstFootballMemory before and during the festival.
Each piece will be auctioned to raise funds for our festival charity partner, Sporting Memories Network. Sporting Memories supports older people living in England and Wales with dementia, depression and loneliness by engaging them in social activities and helping them to recall memories of watching or playing the beautiful game or other sports.
By sharing memories of sporting moments and tapping into a passion for sport we help people to connect with others and with their past, reawakening positive thoughts and feelings that otherwise remain hidden away. Using images and memorabilia, older people are assisted to stay connected to their friends and communities, cognitively stimulated and physically active. The volunteer led, intergenerational Sporting Memories groups help people over the age of 50 age well and remain as healthy as possible.
