HAVE A PINT WITH NIGEL WINTERBURN!
With the generous support of Play with a Legend, we're delighted to announce that ex-Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn will be joining us on our retro-themed Sunday at Jumpers for Goalposts Festival.
Winterburn played left back from 1981 to 2003 and is best know for his part in Arsenal's brilliant defence during the 1990s. He won countless trophies with the club during their success in that era, and earned himself an England call-up as a consequence, and went on to play for England once more. Winterburn retired in February 2003 after a short spell at West Ham. In total, he made 687 appearances and scored 17 goals, including a brilliant strike against Wimbledon that kept Arsenal within touching distance of Liverpool in the 88/89 season.
Winterburn will be joining the Alive and Kicking 90s football podcast crew, Ash, Joel and Matt for an hour of natter, questions and the opportunity for lucky audience members to have a pint with the Arsenal legend himself in the Play with a Legend lounge afterwards.
You'll have to join us on Sunday to find out how to win this wonderful opportunity to meet a legend of the game. You can also learn more about how you and your mates can get a football legend to join you for a proper match in a proper stadium, with a relaxed chat over pints afterwards, only with Play with a Legend.
Play With a Legend is the brainchild of former professional footballer Perry Groves and sports journalist Josh Landy. Josh and Perry met as producer and pundit in the world of sports TV and struck up a friendship which would see Perry playing football alongside Winterburn in a special game for Josh’s best friend to create a memorable stag for a huge Arsenal fan.
After countless requests to arrange similar events for friends all around the country, the company was set up in the Spring of 2014. Play With A Legend now works with over 125 former footballers, organising not only stag, birthday, corporate and charity events but also acting as an agency, working on a wide variety of projects both in the UK and abroad.
